Over 80 Arrested in Police's Tuesday Morning Anti-Crime Crackdown
Kampala police conducted a large-scale operation in the early hours of Tuesday, arresting 80 suspects in a bid to curb criminal activities across the city.
The operation, carried out at around 2:00 a.m., targeted known crime hotspots, including Arua Park, Old Taxi Park, Nakivubo Road, Biwologoma, Nkrumah, Punjani, and Mukwano Roundabout.
Police said the operation focused on individuals who waylay members of the public and engage in unlawful activities.
“All suspects are currently in police custody pending court appearance,” Racheal Kawala, spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Area, told reporters.
She added that the operation was part of continued efforts to ensure the safety of residents and commuters.
Kawala emphasized that the police will maintain a strong presence in identified black spots.
“Operations will continue as we work to remove criminal elements and protect the people of Kampala,” she said.
