Three Arrested in Motorcycle Theft Syndicate Crackdown

By Bicholin K Musisi;

Police in Nsangi have arrested three suspects as part of a crackdown on an organized motorcycle theft and alteration network. The suspects are Kabogoza Kefa alias Kivumbi, the prime suspect; Bbagala Shafik alias Younger, the garage proprietor; and Aryatuha Samson, a parking attendant.

The arrests follow the theft of a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, Registration Number UFU 119N, stolen on 27th February 2026 from Saziro Village in Arua District. Police say Kabogoza Kefa transported the motorcycle to Nsangi and delivered it to Younger’s Garage in Buwali Village near Emma Oil Petrol Station, where it was to be altered to conceal its identity.

Officers from Nabbingo Police Station recovered the stolen Bajaj Boxer, a blue Spiro motorcycle (UMA 399DF), registration plate UEU 629L, a motorcycle exhaust pipe, and a seat cushion. Investigations indicate the suspects were part of a racket that dismantles and modifies stolen motorcycles for resale.

Police have recorded statements from suspects and witnesses, photographed the scene and exhibits, and secured the recovered items for forensic examination. Further inquiries are ongoing to trace additional accomplices and identify the rightful owners of the recovered motorcycles.

Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
