KAMPALA – Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has appointed  Speaker Jacob Oboth Oboth and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa to the Patriotic League of Uganda’s Central Executive Committee as his special envoys to Parliament.

In a post on X at 10:03 AM on 15 June 2026, Muhoozi wrote: "Right Honourable Oboth Oboth and Right Honourable Tayebwa are appointed members of the Central Committee. They are my special envoys to Parliament."

The appointments expand the PLU Central Executive Committee after Muhoozi earlier on Monday retained Michael Nuwagira, Edwin Karugire, Hon. Michael Mawanda and Andrew Mwenda. 

Oboth Oboth is the speaker of Parliament. Tayebwa is the Deputy Speaker of Parliament. Their designation as "special envoys to Parliament" signals a formal link between the PLU leadership and the legislative arm.
