President Museveni orders Evacuation of Ugandans from South Africa amid xenophobic attacks.

President Museveni has directed that arrangements be made for the evacuation of Ugandan nationals from South Africa following the escalating anti immigrant violence and xenophobic protests by vigilant groups over the past few months.


According to the acting minister of foreign affairs Haruna Kasolo says that they are now working with the Uganda high commission in South Africa to finalise the evacuation plan that is expected to commence on the next few days.


Currently 746 Ugandans have voluntarily registered and sought assistance for evacuation due to security and safety concerns following the 30th june 2026 deadline reportedly issued by the vigilante groups.


Kasolo adds that they are collaborating with the ministry of works and transport to make arrangements for Uganda airlines to provide special charter flights for the evacuation exercise.
