The Ugandan government has officially handed over Kilembe Mines to Sarrai Group Limited, an Arab investment company, to revive mining operations in the Rwenzori area through signing the first ever Mineral Production Sharing Agreement for the Redevelopment of Kilembe Mines.
This long-overdue partnership aims to promote the country’s economy and create employment opportunities for the local population.
The agreement was signed in a closed-door session, attended by key officials, including Ruth Nankabirwa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources; Matia Kasaija, Finance Minister; Phiona Nyamutoro, State Minister for Minerals; and Evelin Anite among other officials at Petroleum house in Entebbe.
