Kenyan MP Beaten In Loss To Gabon
Hon. Peter Kalerwa Salasya, a Member of the National Assembly of Kenya is nursing wounds after being violently attacked by a group of yet to be identified individuals in Nairobi.
The Mumias East Constituency representative was part of the crowd at a fully packed Nyayo National Stadium, during a FIFA World Cup qualifier match which Kenya lost 2-1 to Gabon.
The defiant MP had to be whisked away to safety by security, after he was roughed up by a section of fans believed to be from a rival political faction, who harassed and threw objects at him.

Speaking shortly after the attack, Salasya said he would’ve fought back, but just chose to move away.
“I didn’t want to shed blood in my hands. I had options but I chose peace,” Salasya narrated at his hospital bed.
“Next time, God forbid, I will drop one!” The talkative politician threatened.
The event-filled, well-attended Sunday show, also Harambee Stars’ first match at home since 2023 was South African coach, Benni McCarthy’s maiden test since talking over as Kenya head coach.

Renowned Kenyan opposition figure, Raila Odinga was also in attendance as Kenya lost in Nairobi.
On the pitch, former ex-Arsenal star Pierre Emerick Aubameyang shone brightest, scoring twice for the visitors, while Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga got one for the home team.
Gabon, who have never qualified for the World Cup lead the six-team group ‘F’ with 15 points after six games, while Kenya are fourth, stagnant on six points, from the same number of games.
