A 7-Year-Old Child Dies After Mother Forces Him and Younger Sibling to Take Marijuana in Serere

SERERE - UGANDA : A devastating incident has occurred in Serere, where a 7-year-old child died after being forced by his mother to take marijuana along with his younger sibling. The mother, Vivian Mary Akajo, 25, who is pregnant, allegedly locked her children in the house and gave them the substance.
According to reports, the mother had been using marijuana and wanted to share it with her children. She forced the 7-year-old child, who was in Primary 2, and his younger sibling to take the substance. Tragically, the 7-year-old child died, while his younger sibling and mother are currently receiving treatment.
The father of the deceased child, Samuel Ekonu, has expressed shock and grief over the incident. He revealed that he had gone to visit his new partner and had left instructions for his wife to prioritize their children's well-being.
The incident is currently under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
