Mbarara City Woman MP Race Erupts into Violence.

MBARARA - UGANDA :    Tensions in the Mbarara City Woman MP race reached a boiling point on Sunday morning, April 13, 2025, when violent clashes broke out between rival political supporters during the 2025 Mbarara Qadh Run at Global High School grounds. The confrontation involved supporters of Charity Kamuhanda Kibaaju, the NRM candidate vying for the seat, and incumbent MP Ritah Atukwatsa Bwahika's supporters.



Supporters of Charity Kamuhanda Kibaaju allegedly attempted to confront Ritah Atukwatsa Bwahika, who was officiating the event as the guest of honor Bwahika's supporters responded, sparking a violent confrontation that disrupted the event and forced security to intervene,  The incident highlights growing political tensions in the lead-up to the 2026 general elections.



Charity Kamuhanda Kibaaju, also known as "Enyonyozi Ya Mbarara" (Mbarara Shining Star), is a prominent figure in the race for Mbarara City Woman MP. She's an experienced businesswoman with a vision to improve service delivery in the city, promote equality between men, women, and youth, and lobby for the city's share of the national cake. Her campaign has gained momentum, with some describing her as the perfect leader to drive Mbarara City's development .



This incident underscores the intense competition and heightened tensions in the Mbarara City Woman MP race. As the elections approach, the political landscape is expected to become even more dynamic, with candidates vying for support and showcasing their vision for the city's future.
