Rukungiri, Uganda - Authorities in Rukungiri District are investigating the suspected murder of Evalyne Mbabazi, whose body was discovered under mysterious circumstances on June 23, 2025. Mbabazi, 50, had been reported missing the previous evening.

The body was found near White Close in Kizinga A, Kyamakanda Ward. Investigators believe the crime may be financially motivated, as Mbabazi had received money from the sale of land owned by her daughter abroad. Authorities are also exploring the possibility of sexual violence.

One suspect is being held at Buyanja Police Station to aid in the investigation. Officials urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mbabazi's death.
