MUKONO – In the early hours of July 27, 2025, a group of armed individuals launched a string of robberies in Goma Division, Mukono District, targeting multiple villages and leaving residents in shock.

The attackers, wielding pangas, struck several locations, including Nabweru-Mukono District, Kyaliwajjala, Sonde in Wakiso, Seeta Town in Mukono, and Namanve Industrial Park along the Kampala-Jinja highway.

According to police, a group of vigilant boda-boda riders sounded the alarm and chased after the suspects, eventually alerting officers at the Namanve Coca-Cola police post. The police joined the pursuit, tracking the suspects to KAWACOM Company in the industrial park.

“We received a tip-off from the boda-boda riders and quickly mobilized our team to pursue the suspects,” said police. “We were able to track them down and apprehend two of the suspects, while one was injured during the confrontation.”

During the confrontation, one of the robbers, Nsubuga, attempted to attack an officer with a panga and was shot and injured. Two other suspects, Asimwe Stephen, 26, and Musinga Musa, 22, were arrested at the scene.

The police recovered:
