CHAN 2024 LOC Warns Fans Against Fake Match Day Tickets

Kampala, Uganda – 14 August 2025 — The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 in Uganda has urged football fans to buy tickets exclusively through online platforms, warning that all physical tickets currently in circulation are fake or duplicates.

In a statement issued on Thursday, LOC Communications Chairperson Dr. Dennis K. Mugimba said ticket fraud had become a serious concern after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stopped issuing physical tickets following Match Day One on August 4.

“Right now, if you buy a Match Day physical ticket for CHAN 2024 in Uganda, you are either buying a fake or duplicate ticket,” Dr. Mugimba warned, adding that stewards at Namboole Stadium would reject such tickets.

“When the stewards at the entry gates inform you that your ticket has been rejected on account of being fake or duplicated, kindly cooperate and go back home without causing any drama.”

The LOC explained that the ticketing system at Namboole detects counterfeit and duplicate tickets, and entry is granted only to the first holder to present a valid barcode.

Fans were also cautioned against sharing their e-tickets, and those printing tickets from the online portal were advised to ensure high-quality prints so that all features, including the barcode, are clearly visible.

Ticket prices remain at Shs 10,000 for ordinary, Shs 30,000 for silver, and Shs 50,000 for premium seats. Payments can be made via MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, or bank cards (Visa or MasterCard).

Fans are required to sit in their allocated sections, with movement between sections prohibited.
