BUSHENYI UGANDA.   The 12th SYNOD meeting of West Ankole Diocese has elected new leaders to steer the church for the next four years. Mr. Willis Bashasha has been re-elected unopposed as Head of Laity, while Rev. Canon Didas Natweta has been elected Head of Clergy with 88 votes.

Rev. Natweta defeated Rev. Bathel Namara (24 votes) and Rev. Canon Richard Mubangizi (13 votes) to secure the position. Bishop Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni declared the winners at St. Peters Cathedral Bweranyangi.

Other elected members include:

- Counsel Katabarwa Oine Ronald as Chancellor

- Madam Alison Ayetoranire and Ven. Rev. Agaba Samson as secretaries

- Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu and Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye as SYNOD members

Bishop Twinomujuni praised outgoing and incoming SYNOD members for their tireless work in developing the diocese, highlighting achievements like Ankole West University, Katungu hospital, and Jubilee Sacco Ltd.
