Police in Mukono District are investigating the killing of Pamela Tumwebaze, 46, the Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU).
According to police, the incident occurred at around 2:00 a.m. on February 11, 2026, at her residence in Guafu West Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono District.
Preliminary findings indicate that a housemaid reported seeing an unknown man inside the home during the night. The suspect was allegedly wearing some of the deceased’s clothing and later fled the scene with a laptop bag said to belong to Tumwebaze.
The maid alerted the children, and they found Tumwebaze unresponsive in her bedroom. She was taken to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have since deployed task teams to investigate the case. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal said efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspect.
On social media, friends, family, and colleagues expressed shock and grief over her death, describing her as a source of warmth, counsel, and spiritual guidance.
Her sister, Rebecca Tumwebaze, wrote: “My sister’s life was cut short last night by senseless criminals.”
“This is so devastating to lose such a young life that was well lived; her love and mentorship will be dearly missed,” wrote Constance Ichuma Asere.
Others spoke of the emotional impact of the news. “It has hit me so hard. Can’t believe Pam is gone. Life has no meaning,” wrote Arthur Matsiko.
Colleagues described Tumwebaze as one of the youngest individuals to serve as Dean of Students at UCU, a role that oversees student welfare, discipline, counseling, and spiritual guidance. Staff members said she was known for maintaining an open-door policy and often met students late into the evening to help address personal, academic, and disciplinary concerns.
