Uganda Prisons Service Announces Junior Officer Promotions.

The Uganda Prisons Service has announced promotions of junior officers, as stated in a press release from the Commissioner General dated April 29, 2026. The promotions include officers moving to new ranks and positions, showcasing the Service's commitment to career development and recognizing staff contributions.


According to the Uganda Prisons Service, these promotions demonstrate efforts to enhance professionalism and capacity within the institution. The Service has been actively recruiting and promoting officers to address the staff-to-inmate ratio and improve overall operations .


The Uganda Prisons Service is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, responsible for the safe custody, welfare, reformation, and rehabilitation of prisoners, as well as protecting and promoting their rights. The Service has been embracing technology to improve operational efficiency, including digital record-keeping and online inmate management platform.
