UGANDA HOSTS RSF LEADER, SUDAN CRIES FOUL

By Felix Biryomumaisho

Kampala - Sudan's government has condemned Uganda's decision to host Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), labeling it "unacceptable" and a violation of diplomatic norms and international law.

The rebuke came after President Museveni hosted Dagalo at State House, Entebbe, on Friday, where the RSF leader briefed him on the situation in Sudan. Sudan's foreign affairs ministry said the act undermines efforts to achieve peace and stability in the country.

"Sudan will take all necessary diplomatic measures to respond to this unacceptable step," the statement warned.

The move is a setback for Uganda's role as mediator in the conflict, appointed by the African Union to broker peace between Sudan's army and the RSF, which have been fighting for almost three years.

Dagalo's visit comes amid ongoing power struggles in Sudan, with the RSF and army vying for control. Uganda's decision to host him has sparked a diplomatic row, with Khartoum demanding action.
