VENDOR KILLED IN BURURUMA TRADING CENTRE ACCIDENT

RUBIRIZI DISTRICT A tragic accident occurred at Bururuma trading centre in Rutoto Sub-county, claiming the life of a vendor, Tibita Scovia, 50, from Bukyaba village. She was hit by an Isuzu vehicle (UA 055B/G) driven by Ahimbisibwe Robert, 40, who is currently in police custody. The vehicle was reversing into a bodaboda stage when it struck Scovia.
Witnesses, including Mr. Mugisha Tobias Zegebe, a vendor at the scene, described the incident as a big shock, calling for speed bumps to be installed to prevent future accidents. Mr. Akankwasa Justus, a bodaboda rider, also supported the call for speed bumps, emphasizing the need for drivers to be cautious, especially in areas with many people ¹.
The body has been taken to Rugazi Health Centre IV for a postmortem report before being handed over to relatives for burial arrangements. The driver is facing charges for causing death by reckless driving without a driving permit.
