BUSHENYI - UGANDA: Kyeizooba Subcounty held a handover ceremony today at the subcounty headquarters. The meeting brought together outgoing and incoming councillors for the first time.
The Chairperson of Local Council Three, Taremwa Victor Bakikunde, thanked the outgoing councillors for the good cooperation they showed during their term. He asked the new councillors to work for the people and not to fight in the council. He also praised the Community Development Officer, CDO, for her hard work with the councillors.
Chairperson Bakikunde said the Agricultural Officers worked tirelessly, and he called them a “Japan machine” because of their good work. He also said the Speaker was doing well and that his office was coordinating well with the office of the LC3 Chairperson.
The Chairperson noted that this was the first time outgoing and incoming councillors had met together in one meeting. He thanked Hon. Michael Mawanda Malanga for providing lunch and other support for the day.
The Speaker of Kyeizooba Subcounty, Emmy Taremwa, thanked all councillors and the technical staff. He asked outgoing councillors to always stay active and keep in touch with the subcounty technical staff. He told incoming councillors to come to council to discuss development, not to fight.
Speaker Emmy Taremwa said the council worked hard with what they had in their offices. All councillors were given certificates. He gave credit to LC3 Chairperson Victor Bakikunde for starting the idea of giving certificates to all councillors.
He ended by thanking Hon. Michael Mawanda Malanga again for the lunch and asked the council to write a letter of appreciation to him.
The councillors promised to serve Kyeizooba Subcounty with honesty and trust. They also thanked the people who elected them as leaders. Councillors who got a second term for the 2021/2026 term of office were happy to continue serving. They all thanked Hon. Michael Mawanda Malanga for the lunch he provided for the handover ceremony.
