Senior three Student of Mbale High School Found Dead in Suspected Suicide.

MBALE - UGANDA: Police in Mbale City have launched investigations into the suspected suicide of a 16-year-old Senior Three student of Mbale High School.
The deceased, identified as Nelima Catherine, also known as Nisha, a resident of Bukisukye Lower Cell, Bumutoto Ward, Industrial Division, Mbale City.
According to Elgon Region Police spokesperson SP Rogers Taitika, the incident is suspected to have occurred on June 9, 2026.
Preliminary reports indicate that Catherine's mother, Jennifer Kanyunyuzi, 39, a businesswoman, left her children at home while she went to town.
Upon returning at about 5 p.m., Kanyunyuzi reportedly found the other children at neighbours' homes. When she entered her bedroom, she discovered her daughter hanging from a piece of mosquito net.
"The body was taken to Mbale City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death." Taitika said.
Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
SP Taitika urged parents, guardians and schools to pay close attention to the mental health and well-being of children. He also appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to report to Mbale Central Police Station.
