NRM Yesterday 15th APRIL Released Political Roadmap for primary and structure elections Ahead of 2026 Elections.

The NRM political and electoral roadmap 2025-26 was released yesterday by the Secretary-General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, flanked by members of the NRM Secretariat Top leadership. 


‎In a press conference held today, the Secretary-General said the program will begin next week on April 24th with the expression of interest and nomination for party structure elections at the village level and LC1 Chairperson. 

He described the event as a very important milestone for the party and called on Party members to be very observant of the dates proposed for all the Party activities.

The roadmap, covering the period from April 2025 through February 2026, outlines a series of internal party processes starting from grassroots elections and leading up to the nomination of presidential candidates and the general election.

 Key dates on the roadmap include:

• May 6, 2025: Election of LC1 flag bearers and village party structure officials.
• July 16, 2025: NRM primaries for parliamentary candidates.
• July 24, 2025: NRM primaries for LCV chairpersons, mayors, and councilors.
• August 18, 2025: Elections for LCIII chairpersons and councilors.
• October 2–3, 2025: Nomination of presidential candidates.
• January 12 – February 9, 2026: National polling period for President, MPs, and local government councils.

The roadmap also earmarks timeframes for nomination of local government and parliamentary candidates by the Electoral Commission, internal party delegate conferences, and open campaign periods.

The roadmap is themed around NRM’s core pillars: Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-Economic Transformation, and Democracy.

With this release, the NRM becomes the first major party to publicly roll  out a comprehensive electoral program ahead of the anticipated general elections.
