Three Uganda Premier League club captains are amongst the players dropped from Uganda Cranes a head of CHAN

Three Uganda Premier League club captains are amongst the dozen players dropped from Uganda Cranes team preparing for the TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

Vipers’ Milton Karisa, URA’s Enock Walusimbi and Express’ Emmanuel Wasswa have all been dropped from the team that starts residential training on Monday.

The other captain is SC Villa’s David Owori who has taken over the arm band in the absence of Ronald Ssekiganda for the better part of last season.

Other key names out of the 29-man squad are NEC’s Paul Mucureezi, SC Villa striker Charles Lwanga, midfielder Aslam Ssemakula, NEC centre back Jacob Okao and KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalibu Mugolofa, his teammate Said Mayanja.

Right back James Begisa and Maroons winger Baden Mujahed complete the dropped trio.

Uganda is among the three host nations alongside Kenya and Tanzania and is in Group C with Algeria, South Africa, Niger and Guinea.
