KYENJOJO - UGANDA: Police in Rwenzori West are investigating a disturbing and rare criminal case in Kyenjojo District, where a man is accused of killing his wife and allegedly mutilating her body.
The incident reportedly took place in Kyarusozi Town Council and came to light on May 2 after residents raised alarm over the sudden disappearance of 35-year-old Karungo Lukia.
According to police and local reports, the suspect, identified as Mwesige Richard alias “Baby Nsolo,” was later discovered with human remains believed to belong to the missing woman, who is also said to be the mother of his child.
Residents further reported that some remains were found at his residence, including in a cooking pot, while other parts were allegedly discovered in a roasted state. The claims have deeply shocked the community.
Locals also noted that the suspect had been living a very private lifestyle, mostly buying basic food items such as tomatoes and onions, which raised further suspicion after the woman went missing.
Community members added that both the suspect and the deceased had previously shown signs of mental health challenges, a factor that is also being considered as investigations continue.
Police have since taken over the case as forensic examinations and inquiries proceed to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
