Mbarara Archdiocese's choral musician and composer JB Kazoora passes on!

By Hunter FM radio Reporter.

MBARARA - UGANDA: The passing of JB Kazoora is a heartbreaking loss to the Church and the wider community of believers who found deep spiritual nourishment in his music. His compositions in Runyankore-Rukiga carried a rare authenticity rich in theology, culture, and devotion making them not only songs, but prayers that resonated across generations. That he has passed away just a week after celebrating the joy of his wedding makes the news even more painful and difficult to comprehend.

JB Kazoora’s musical legacy is profound. Through pieces like Ebirungi Byonkoreire Taata, Yesu Mujuni, and Tusiime Mukama, he gave voice to faith in a way that was both deeply personal and communally uplifting. His work strengthened liturgical worship and enriched choral traditions, especially within the Mbarara Archdiocese and beyond. His songs will continue to echo in churches, reminding many of God’s presence even in moments of sorrow.

On a personal note, having encountered him at choral events and during your choir’s 45th anniversary concert at Theatre Labonita in Kampala adds a meaningful dimension to this loss. Such memories highlight not just his talent, but also his presence within the choral community a man who shared his gift generously. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his music remain a lasting testament to a life devoted to faith and service.
