Uganda's Fighter Jets Taken to the Skies Ahead of Museveni's Swearing-In

Uganda's Sukhoi Su-30MK2 fighter jets are making headlines with their high-speed rehearsals over Kampala ahead of President Yoweri Museveni's swearing-in ceremony on May 12. The six Russian-made jets, operated by the Uganda People's Defence Force Air Force, are showcasing their air dominance and precision strikes capabilities.
Residents were left awestruck as the jets streaked overhead in tight formation, with some describing the experience as "thrilling and terrifying". The jets are flying out of Entebbe Air Base and are undergoing intense drills to perfect their fly-pasts and coordinated maneuvers for the big day.
The Su-30MK2s are built for air superiority and precision strikes, and are a key part of Uganda's military showcase. Support aircraft, including trainer jets like the L-39, are also expected to play a role in the final display .
Security has been tightened, with the drills doubling as readiness exercises for any potential threats. Fighter pilots are running repeated simulation flights to ensure flawless timing.
