JINJA - UGANDA: Village leaders in Kagoma-Makota village, Jinja District, have stepped in to resolve a tense domestic dispute involving a 46-year-old woman, Judith Babirye, who found herself living with two men under one roof.

The situation unfolded after Babirye’s former partner, Isaac Omoding, whom she had believed was dead, unexpectedly returned home and discovered her living with Steven Orwenyi. Babirye says she attempted to manage the situation by accommodating both men, but the arrangement quickly became strained as disagreements and accusations emerged between them.

Tensions escalated further when Orwenyi demanded compensation, claiming he had financially supported Babirye and contributed to household needs during their relationship. He insisted on payment before leaving, prompting intervention from local leaders who convened a community mediation meeting to restore order.

Following negotiations, residents contributed funds to facilitate his transport, while Babirye agreed to settle a remaining balance later. Leaders have since cautioned residents against complex relationships, warning that such situations can easily lead to conflict within households.
